Circle of Life is looking for a compassionate and customer service-focused Durable Medical Equipment delivery driver. This person will operate a company vehicle and service a territory. This position offers a rotating schedule and will assist others with on-call coverage.
Requirements:
- 3-5 years of prior experience in customer service, service delivery, and driving trucks is preferred.
- Good hearing, vision, and the ability to distinguish between colors.
- Ability to read and speak English well enough to read road signs, prepare reports, and communicate with the public.
- Knowledge of patient care equipment functions, including routine maintenance.
- Technical and mechanical aptitude, the ability to use shop mathematics, and manual dexterity.
- Must get along well with people, speak well, and have self-confidence, initiative, tact, and a neat appearance.
- A responsible, self-motivated individual able to work well with little or no supervision.
- Experience in a healthcare environment is preferred.
- Ability to cope with human suffering, emergencies, and other stresses.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare the DME truck daily for delivery by pulling stock from warehouse inventory and loading equipment in the designated compartments of the van and cargo trailer.
- Participate with supervisor/manager to conduct a daily assessment and verification (Pre-Trip Inspection) of the DME truck, equipment, and supplies, and confirm basic safety operations.
- Review basic equipment operation and instruct patients and/or caregivers on proper use and care.
- Maintain continuous communication with the scheduling team regarding order changes, issues, route positions, stock availability, and delivery/pick-up confirmations.
- Respond to emergency calls and new patient orders during regular and on-call hours.
- Unload and check-in returned equipment, placing dirty equipment in the designated area for cleaning.
- Maintain current patient equipment logs.
- Clean, disinfect, inspect, test, and repair medical equipment.
- Stock delivery trucks to ensure readiness for the next delivery.
- Assist the warehouse by receiving and confirming new equipment, including barcoding and scanning following SOPs.
- Support the Maintenance Department with various tasks to maintain Circle of Life buildings, including skilled and unskilled tasks.
- Participate in staff meetings, training, and continuing education to stay updated on equipment, procedures, and processes.
- Demonstrate compassion, empathy, and patience when interacting with patients, families, co-workers, and the public.
