Acorn Distributors, Inc., located in Indianapolis, IN, is looking for Class A & B CDL drivers and Non-CDL drivers interested in safely delivering products to our customers. We have been a leading distributor of janitorial and restaurant supplies since 1976.

Job Description

Drivers travel established routes to deliver products or render services and perform additional duties as assigned. They are committed to 100% customer service and accuracy. Uniforms are provided.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Unload products at customers’ or warehouse facilities as necessary
  • Down-stack product on truck throughout the business day
  • Record sales or delivery information upon delivery and obtain customer signature on delivery invoice or pick-up requests
  • Complete and submit all related paperwork to the Transportation Supervisor or appropriate department
  • Pick up returns and/or damaged products
  • Maintain a presentable appearance, including personal appearance (uniform) and vehicle
  • Listen to and resolve customer complaints
  • Represent the company positively – maintain a professional appearance and convey a friendly, helpful, and competent disposition
  • Perform routine safety inspections on company trucks
  • Follow OSHA safety standards and DOT regulations, reporting violations accordingly
  • Other duties as needed
Physical Demands And Work Environment
  • Prolonged periods of sitting and driving
  • Reaching with hands and arms, standing, walking, handling or feeling, and loading
  • Frequently lifting/moving over 50 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, and focus adjustment
  • The role can be stressful with strict deadlines; employees are expected to maintain productivity and accuracy
Equipment Used
  • Two-wheeler, pallet jack, electric pallet jack
  • Telephone and calculator
  • Tractor trailer (Class A License) or 26’ straight truck (Class B License or For Hire License)
Minimum Qualifications
  • Ability to perform essential duties satisfactorily, demonstrating teamwork and honesty
  • Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities
  • Effective communication skills, both written and oral
  • Basic mathematical and analytical skills
  • Knowledge of company policies, procedures, and laws concerning D.O.T. regulations
  • Organizational and scheduling skills
  • Ability to pass background check, drug screen, DMV check, and medical exam
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Licensing compliant with state and federal requirements
Education/Work Experience Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent, with at least one year of related experience or training, or an equivalent combination
  • CDL Class A or B license in Indiana, or Non-CDL with For Hire license
  • Must pass written rules and regulations exam and demonstrate safe operation of a commercial truck
  • Compliance with federal and state regulations for truck drivers
