Job summary

West Virginia Tax Division seeks an in-office delinquent tax collector to pursue collections of Personal Income Taxes by contacting taxpayers in person, by phone, and by mail. The role promotes voluntary compliance and educates taxpayers on WV state code.

Responsibilities include reviewing returns, issuing bank levies and liens, and negotiating payment plans up to 12 months. A valid driver’s license and fingerprint background check are required for employment.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited four-year college with six accounting hours.
• Substitution: two years of related work for one year of college; experience with the Department may substitute on a year-for-year basis.
• A valid driver’s license and access to a car are required.
