Job summary

Nino Salvaggio International Marketplace in Livonia is seeking a Deli Associate to join our team. You will slice, weigh, package and label deli meats and cheeses per customer requests, assist with orders and questions, and ensure prompt, courteous service in a fast-paced deli.

You will operate slicers and equipment following safety guidelines, maintain display and product knowledge, and adhere to store policies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred, but not required.
• Must have reliable transportation.
• Must be able to work early mornings, nights and weekends.
• Must be able to use knives, box cutters, slicers, etc.
• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Ability to work in a 45° to 50º environment.
• Ability to stand and/or walk for 8+ hours.

Responsibilities

• Slice, weigh, package and label deli meats and cheeses per customer request.
• Assist customers with all orders and questions about products in the deli, providing samples as needed.
• Greet customers and provide prompt, courteous and excellent service.
• Operate slicers and equipment according to company policies, procedures and safety guidelines.
• Handle, stock, prepare and display all deli products.
• Maintain a neat, well-groomed appearance and observe grooming standards.
• Maintain knowledge of store layout to assist customers.
• Know the quality standards, prices, varieties, and preparation methods of deli products.
• Handle damaged or spoiled products per guidelines and assist in controlling damaged goods.
• Comply with safety and sanitation policies and relevant laws and labeling requirements.
• Notify management of safety or equipment issues.
• Assist in training associates when necessary.
• Assist in other departments as needed.
