Job summary

Schnucks Markets, Inc. is seeking a Deli Clerk to support daily operations in our deli department. You will assist customers, prepare fresh sandwiches and salads, and ensure product quality and display standards are met. A strong focus on teamwork and safety is essential.

You will work a flexible schedule, including nights, holidays, and weekends, with a pay range starting at $15.25–$17.75 per hour. Training and advancement opportunities are available within the Schnucks family.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Able to demonstrate basic math skills (pounds and ounces to decimals)
• Able to work a flexible schedule, including nights, holidays, and weekends
• Hair restraint required (hair net or hat)
• Wear clean uniform and name tag at all times
• Use of cut gloves and safe use of knives
• Wear slip-resistant shoes at all times
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
• Experience in food preparation is a plus
• Team oriented and customer-focused

Responsibilities

• Provide friendly and courteous service to customers, in person and on the phone
• Maintain a positive work environment
• Maintain cleanliness of work area, deli cases, and backroom per safety guidelines
• Follow proper personal hygiene requirements
• Follow time/temperature controls and food handling practices
• Operate meat and cheese slicers, scales, and wrapping equipment
• Prepare sandwiches, salads, and party trays per recipes
• Fill/rotate/date products for display cases
• Offer product samples to customers to drive sales
• Attend to special orders and accommodate requests
• Adhere to safety, health, and weights and measures regulations
• Answer phone and take special orders with courtesy and friendliness
• Maintain attendance and assist with other duties as assigned
