Job summary

Wegmans in Charlottesville, VA is hiring as a food service worker in our Deli. You’ll work with team members to ensure the freshest deli meats and cheeses are available, and help customers choose easy meal and entertaining solutions.

If you love food service and fast-paced environments, this role could be for you. You’ll slice, package and label products, provide great service, keep cases clean and stocked, and unload deliveries while rotating stock for freshness.

Qualifications

• Experience in food service, grocery or retail preferred.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 35 pounds occasionally.

Work Environment: The physical demands of this work are classified as medium. Work includes walking, standing for up to 4 hours without a break, repetitive grasping, repetitive hand and arm movements, occasional heavy lifting, bending, and reaching, along with continuous interaction with customers and coworkers in a fast-paced environment. The average weight range of items lifted is 5 – 20 pounds with a maximum weight lifted of 35 pounds occasionally. Upper extremity repetition is moderately high and trunk movement involves moderate to moderately high twisting, bending, and pivoting. May be exposed to various allergens (things that may cause an allergic reaction). The work environment is indoors and involves exposure to cold (33 – 55 degrees) temperatures. Basic tools and equipment used include slicer, knives, scale, and packaging supplies.; Collective customer service experience, internally and/or externally preferably in a food service, grocery or retail setting
