Job summary

The Fresh Market in New Orleans is seeking a Deli Specialist to maintain fresh and carefully presented deli items, ensure proper rotation, and deliver exceptional guest service. This role emphasizes teamwork, food safety, and customer engagement on the sales floor.

You will coordinate with the team on inventory, assist with promotions, and help uphold high food-safety standards while providing friendly guest service throughout shifts.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of experience in retail, grocery, restaurant, or hospitality operations.
• Strong attention to detail with organizational skills and ability to multitask.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.

Responsibilities

• Ensure all deli products meet freshness and quality standards with proper rotation and dating.
• Execute planograms and maintain accurate product placement and signage.
• Coordinate with department leadership on ordering and replenishment of deli items.
• Verify deliveries for accuracy and freshness and proper receiving and storage procedures.
• Follow policies, food safety requirements, and sanitation procedures.
• Engage guests with a friendly, helpful approach on the sales floor.

What You'll Do:

Availability:

This position requires the willingness to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, days, evenings, and holidays.

Qualifications:

At a minimum, what you’ll need:

• 1+ years of experience in retail, grocery, restaurant, or hospitality operations.
• Strong attention to detail with organizational skills, ability to multitask, and work at a fast pace.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.

Preferred Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Retail, culinary, and/or grocery experience.
• Experience with electronic shelf label systems, inventory management technology, or AI-enabled retail tools.

Physical and Work Conditions:

• Repetitive hand/arm movements, grasping, bending, reaching, ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds by oneself, and exposure to extreme temperatures.
• Ability to use tools and equipment: knives, ladders, stepstools, box cutters, pallet jacks, and other equipment.
• Required to spend long periods of time on their feet and stand or walk without a break (for up to 4 hours or as required by law).
• Required to wear an approved hat, hair net, and/or beard guard, and personal protective equipment.
