Job summary

Ridley’s Family Markets is seeking a Deli Department Associate to deliver excellent customer service, plan and execute merchandising strategies, and support department operations. The role requires prior deli experience, forklift certification, basic math, and strong teamwork.

Responsibilities include maintaining inventory, training staff, coordinating with other departments, and ensuring compliance with safety and company policies.

Qualifications

• Certification required for operation of forklift and/or pallet jack.
• Ability to write, speak, hear, and understand spoken word; read safety manuals.
• Basic computer skills; MS Excel and Word required.
• Must have previous deli experience.
• Basic math skills including money, weight, measurement, and percentages.

Responsibilities

• Exhibit and develop maximum customer relations through friendly and courteous behavior.
• Promote a high level of morale within department and store.
• Maintain good working relationships with other department managers to improve sales storewide.
• Plan aggressive merchandising programs for increased sales; assist cross-merchandising ideas.
• Assist in planning, organization, and direction of deli department activities.
• Know and cost out all material to determine proper retails.
• Develop and grow department personnel through training, evaluation, and counseling.
• Teach fundamentals of deli production: mixing, scaling, cooking, frying, finishing.
• Assist in maintaining department labor and inventory within budgets and guidelines.
• Conduct receiving, storing, pricing, and merchandising of all deli products.
• Maintain coordination with other departments for smooth flow of products and service.
