You will coach staff, manage inventory, and collaborate with the Deli Manager to meet sales and profitability goals.

The role focuses on maintaining standards, training team members, and delivering a fresh, high-quality deli experience for customers in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Experience supervising deli staff and managing daily operations.
• Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and health department compliance.
• Ability to plan production, merchandising, and customer service.

Responsibilities

• Assist in managing the daily operations of the Deli Department.
• Ensure deli products are prepared, stocked, and displayed in accordance with company standards.
• Monitor product freshness, quality, and presentation throughout the day.
• Support production planning to meet customer demand while minimizing waste.
• Maintain department cleanliness, organization, and readiness.
• Assist the Deli Manager in supervising, training, and developing deli associates.
• Support onboarding and training of new team members.
• Provide coaching and performance feedback to improve productivity and service.
• Promote a positive work environment focused on teamwork, accountability, and customer service.
• Serve as department leader in the Deli Manager's absence.
• Deliver exceptional customer service and promote a customer-first culture.
• Assist customers with product selection, meal solutions, catering orders, and special requests.
• Address customer concerns professionally and resolve issues promptly.
• Ensure department associates provide friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient service.
• Assist with food preparation, production schedules, and inventory management.
• Ensure all products meet company quality and presentation standards.
• Execute merchandising plans, promotional displays, and seasonal programs.
• Verify pricing accuracy, signage, and proper product rotation.
• Support catering and special-order programs as applicable.
• Ensure compliance with all food safety, sanitation, health department, and company requirements.
• Maintain proper food handling, storage, temperature monitoring, and recordkeeping practices.
• Promote workplace safety and adherence to safe operating procedures.
• Ensure department equipment is maintained and operated properly.
• Support the achievement of departmental sales, profit, labor, and shrink goals.
• Assist with ordering and inventory control processes.
• Monitor waste and identify opportunities to improve profitability.
• Support labor scheduling and productivity initiatives.
