Responsibilities
- Promote trust and respect among associates.
- Communicate company, department, and job-specific information to associates.
- Collaborate with associates and promote teamwork to help achieve company and store goals.
- Establish performance goals for the department and empower associates to meet or exceed targets.
- Train and develop associates on performance of their job and participate in the performance appraisal process.
- Adhere to all local, state, and federal laws, and company guidelines.
- Gain and maintain knowledge of products sold within the department and respond to questions or make suggestions about products.
- Slice deli meats and cheeses to customers’ requests using proper deli equipment.
- Offer product samples to help customers discover new items or inquire about products.
- Inform customers of deli specials.
- Provide customers with fresh products ordered and the correct portion size to prevent shrinkage.
- Recommend deli items to customers to ensure they get the products they want and need.
- Use all deli equipment such as fryers, rotisseries, heat lamps, and ovens according to company guidelines.
- Prepare foods according to food temperature logs and follow cooking instructions.
- Educate department associates about current, upcoming, and special in-store promotions, especially those affecting the Deli.
- Assist Food Service Manager in preparing the store/department budget, profit and loss reviews, and take appropriate actions on financial reports.
- Assist in planning, organizing, and supervising inventory processes.
- Train department associates on inventory/stocking and Computer Assisted Ordering.
- Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
- Maintain proper temperatures in cases and coolers, and keep temperature logs.
- Reinforce safety programs by following safety procedures, identifying unsafe conditions, and notifying management.
- Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and reporting repairs.
- Notify management of customer or employee accidents.
- Report safety risks, illegal activities, including robbery, theft, or fraud.
- Perform essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
Qualifications
Minimum
- Effective communication skills
- Basic math knowledge
- Ability to handle stressful situations
