DELI/LEAD CLERK (Finance)


Create an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service. Establish and maintain a safe and clean environment that encourages our customers to return. Achieve sales and profit goals established for the department, and monitor and control all established quality assurance standards. Direct and supervise all functions, duties, and activities for the Deli department. Support the day-to-day functions of the Deli operations. Embrace the Customer 1st strategy and encourage associates to deliver excellent customer service. Demonstrate the company's core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Effective communication skills
  • Knowledge of basic math
  • Ability to handle stressful situations

Preferred qualifications:

  • High school education or equivalent
  • Management experience
  • Retail experience
  • Deli experience

Key responsibilities include:

  • Promoting trust and respect among associates
  • Communicating company, department, and job-specific information to associates
  • Collaborating with associates and promoting teamwork to achieve company and store goals
  • Establishing performance goals for the department and empowering associates to meet or exceed them
  • Training and developing associates and participating in performance appraisals

  • Slicing deli meats and cheeses accurately
  • Offering product samples and informing customers of specials
  • Providing fresh, correctly portioned products to customers

  • Preparing foods according to safety and cooking guidelines
  • Staying informed about promotions and advertising
  • Assisting in budget preparation, profit and loss reviews, and inventory management
  • Training staff on inventory and computer-assisted ordering

  • Reinforcing safety procedures and reporting unsafe conditions or incidents
  • Performing equipment inspections and notifying management of repairs
  • Reporting safety risks, illegal activities, or incidents
