Job summary

Weis Markets is looking for a friendly deli associate in York County to keep the deli stocked and welcoming. You will greet customers, assist with questions, and help prepare fresh meats and cheeses to order, while adhering to safety and sanitation standards.

The role involves light cash handling, accurate labeling, and maintaining cleanliness in a fast-paced retail environment. Training is provided to ensure quality and customer-focused service.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required or in progress.
• No prior experience required.

Responsibilities

• Keeps Deli service areas well stocked and appealing to meet customer demands.
• Smiles and greets customers, answers questions and resolves concerns promptly in a polite, professional manner.
• Operates slicing equipment to provide meats and cheeses based on customer preferences; packages items with price/weight/date labels.
• Prepares ready-to-eat foods to order; prepares platters of sliced meats, cheeses and vegetables; safe use of knives/kitchen utensils.
• Follows recipes and safety policies when preparing food items such as chicken, pizza, sandwiches and salads.
• May operate cash register; follows money-handling procedures to avoid cash discrepancies.
• Maintains sanitation; follows cleaning schedules and health/OSHA requirements; disposes of trash properly.
• Assists in inventory control and returns products to refrigeration; keeps logs.
• May assist with unloading deliveries and storing; training provided.
• Ensures smooth department function by cooperating with co-workers and supervisors; seeks continuous improvement.
