Responsibilities

• Communicates with teams regarding merchandising and pricing.
• Mentors Assistant Department Manager for future responsibilities.
• Assigns duties and schedules for team members.
• Ensures accurate pricing and resolves discrepancies.
• Creates merchandising plans in conjunction with the Buying team.
• Functions as a working manager performing department responsibilities.
• Oversees ordering of departmental supplies and merchandise.
• Performs departmental inventories to ensure accuracy.
• Trains team members on store policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Communicates with Buying and GM teams regarding merchandising, new product implementation and appropriate pricing. Promptly follows through with directions.
• Develops and mentors the Assistant Department Manager to prepare them to take on the job responsibilities of Department Manager (where applicable).
• Assigns duties to team members and schedules break periods, work hours, and vacations based on the needs of the business and upcoming store events.
• Communicates regularly with scan department to resolve incorrect information and ensure correct pricing.
• Devise game plans and plan-o-grams for merchandising of the department in conjunction with the Buying team.
• Fully understands the retail label systems, communicates with Scan, General Management, and/or Buying teams to ensure correct pricing.
• Functions as a working manager, performing all department responsibilities to ensure the smooth operation of your area of responsibility.
• Has knowledge of current inventories and ordering systems to effectively oversee the ordering of departmental supplies and merchandise from approved vendors.
• Supervises and performs departmental inventories to ensure accuracy and thoroughness.
• Trains team members in store policies, department procedures, product knowledge and job duties to ensure they are working in a productive and safe manner.
