Job summary

Hy-Vee is seeking a Delicatessen Clerk to manage the delicatessen counter, assist customers, and handle payments. The role requires attention to food safety, cleanliness, and teamwork in a fast-paced store environment.

Responsibilities include taking orders, assisting customers, maintaining production lists, and ensuring a positive company image through courteous service. This position reports to store leadership and involves routine kitchen and counter duties.

Qualifications

• Must be able to understand and follow verbal or demonstrated instructions; write identifying information; request supplies orally or in writing.
• Must be able to solve arithmetic calculations involving fractions, decimals and percentages.

Responsibilities

• Provides prompt, efficient and friendly customer service by exhibiting caring, concern and patience in all customer interactions.
• Smiles and greets customers in a friendly manner, whether the encounter takes place in the employee's designated department or elsewhere in the store.
• Assists customers by escorting them to products, securing items, loading/unloading heavy items, and passing along requests.
• Takes customer orders at the delicatessen counter and processes payments at the department registers.
• Maintains clean and organized work area and adheres to sanitation procedures.
• Works with coworkers as a team to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment.
