Job summary

Hy-Vee is seeking a Delicatessen Clerk to provide friendly customer service, operate the delicatessen counter, and assist customers with product selections in a fast-paced retail environment.

You will maintain clean work areas, follow sanitation procedures, and collaborate with store teams to ensure a positive shopping experience for all customers. This role emphasizes accuracy at the register and careful handling of food products.

Qualifications

• Must be able to understand and follow verbal or demonstrated instructions; write identifying information; request supplies orally or in writing.
• Able to perform arithmetic calculations involving fractions, decimals and percentages.

Responsibilities

• Provides prompt, efficient and friendly customer service by exhibiting caring, concern and patience in all customer interactions.
• Smiles and greets customers in a friendly manner and addresses them by name when possible.
• Assists customers by escorting them to products, securing items, loading or unloading heavy items, and handling customer requests.
• Operates department registers and handles payments where applicable.
• Maintains sanitation and cleanliness of the work area and adheres to company guidelines.
• Reports to work on schedule and collaborates with coworkers to ensure customer satisfaction.
