Description

Position Objective: To produce, execute, and deliver outstanding prepared foods in freshness, taste, quality, and presentation in a timely and efficient manner. Assist in all aspects of the deli to ensure a high standard of product and service for Cosentino’s customers.

Reporting Structure: This position reports to the Deli Manager.

Status: This is a non-exempt position.

Knowledge

The following are certification, education, or training requirements:

  • A food handling permit must be obtained within the first 14 days of employment.
  • Completion of ongoing training as per Cosentino’s Learning Plan.
  • Minimum of one year of cooking experience in a deli, bakery, catering, or banquet setting.
  • Minimum of 6 months experience in deli or food service production.
  • Understanding of federal, state, and local food sanitation guidelines.
Skills

Basic skills required include:

  • Developing daily, weekly, and seasonal menu items with management.
  • Practicing portion control and safety standards.
  • Enforcing quality control and sanitation standards.
  • Supervising kitchen staff effectively and respectfully.
  • Fostering teamwork and positive morale.
  • Training and managing part-time cooks.
  • Effective communication and customer service skills.
  • Inventory management, product rotation, and customer interaction.
  • Meeting productivity standards and promoting sales.
