Job summary

Safeway in Pleasant Hill, CA is seeking a Deli Clerk to prepare fresh foods and greet customers, helping them choose meats, cheeses, hot foods, and grab-and-go items. You’ll slice, portion, and assemble orders with accuracy.

You’ll keep the deli stocked, clean, and well-displayed, monitor freshness and temperature, and follow food safety guidelines in a fast-paced environment. Availability for mornings and weekends is preferred.

Qualifications

• Customer-facing role with strong communication and service focus.
• Experience in deli or food service with slicing and portioning skills.
• Knowledge of deli products, cheeses, and hot-case items.
• Attention to accuracy in portioning, labeling and transactions.
• Ability to manage time and keep displays organized.
• Ability to keep displays stocked and visually appealing.
• Experience with cash handling and basic math for transactions.
• Adherence to food safety and sanitation procedures.
• Ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment.
• Physical ability to stand long periods and lift up to 35 lbs.
