Job summary

Safeway seeks a Deli Clerk to prepare fresh foods and provide a welcoming experience for customers. You will slice meats, assemble deli products, and help customers choose from cheeses, hot foods, and grab-and-go items while keeping service friendly and efficient.

You will keep the department stocked, clean, and ready, monitor freshness and temperature, and work across restocking, taking orders, and equipment use in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Clear communication when taking orders in person or by phone.
• Experience preparing deli products, including slicing and portioning.
• Understanding of deli meats, cheeses, prepared foods, and hot case items.
• Accuracy in labeling, pricing, and order completion.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks while maintaining workflow.
• Keeping display cases stocked and clean.
• Processing transactions and making accurate change.
• Following food safety, sanitation, and company procedures.
• Comfort working in a fast-paced environment.
• Capacity to lift up to 35 lbs and work in varying temperatures.

Responsibilities

• Prepare hot and cold items and maintain organized displays.
