Job summary

Safeway is seeking a Deli Clerk to help customers select fresh deli meats, cheeses, hot foods and grab-and-go items. You will slice, portion and prepare products, keep displays stocked and ensure item freshness in a fast-paced environment.

Applicants should be 18+, able to operate slicers, perform basic math for weighing and transactions, and work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Prior deli or customer service experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Customer-facing role experience preferred
• Food preparation and serving knowledge
• Ability to maintain accurate labeling, pricing and portioning
• Familiarity with store display and stock replenishment
• Comfort with standing for long periods and handling varying temperatures

Responsibilities

• Assist customers with selecting deli items and answer questions
• Prepare and arrange deli products, slice meats and portion items
• Stock, rotate and clean display cases and prep areas
• Handle cash transactions and operate point-of-sale systems
• Adhere to health, safety and company procedures in a fast-paced setting
