Job summary

Safeway in San Mateo is seeking a friendly Deli Clerk to prepare fresh foods and help customers select deli meats, cheeses, hot foods, and grab‑and‑go items. You will slice, portion, label, wrap, and present offerings with speed and care in a busy department.

You will keep the deli stocked and clean, monitor freshness and temperatures, handle basic math for weights and transactions, and uphold food safety standards.

Qualifications

• Must be comfortable interacting with customers and handling orders in person or by phone.
• Experience with deli preparation, slicing, portioning, and basic food handling.
• Good understanding of deli products and display items.
• Attention to accurate portioning, labeling, pricing, and order completion.

Responsibilities

• Prepare fresh deli items and grab‑and‑go offerings.
