Safeway seeks a Deli Clerk to prepare fresh foods and deliver a welcoming customer experience. You will assist customers in selecting deli meats, cheeses, and ready-to-eat items while maintaining friendly, efficient service.

The role includes stocking, cleaning, and ensuring product freshness throughout the day. You will operate slicers and prep equipment safely, handle cash transactions, and follow food safety guidelines in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Clear communication when taking orders in person or by phone.
• Experience preparing deli products, including slicing and portioning.
• Knowledge of deli meats, cheeses, prepared foods and hot case items.
• Accuracy in labeling, pricing, and order completion.
• Managing multiple tasks while maintaining workflow and service speed.
• Keeping display cases stocked, clean, and visually consistent.
• Processing transactions and making accurate change using register systems.
• Following food safety, sanitation, and company procedures.
• Comfort working in a fast-paced environment with changing customer demand.
• Standing for extended periods and lifting up to 35 lbs in varying temperatures.
