Job summary

Hy-Vee is seeking a Delicatessen Clerk in Independence, MO to handle food safely, run the deli counter, and provide courteous service. You will maintain a clean workspace, stock products, and assist customers with orders in a fast-paced environment.

The role is part-time, requires a drug screen, and reports to the Delicatessen Department Manager while collaborating with store leadership and team members.

Qualifications

• Must be able to understand and follow verbal or demonstrated instructions.
• Ability to perform basic arithmetic for transactions.
• Experience handling food safely and maintaining cleanliness.

Responsibilities

• Provide prompt, efficient and friendly customer service at the delicatessen counter.
• Operate department registers and handle payments, making change where applicable.
• Greet customers by name when possible and assist with product guidance.
• Assist in locating products, stocking, and keeping the area neat and organized.
• Maintain sanitation and cleanliness of the work area and monitor freshness of deli items.
• Prepare, finish, and replenish deli products as needed and ensure adequate stock.
• Take customer orders at the delicatessen counter and coordinate with team.
• Collaborate with coworkers to ensure customer satisfaction in a fast-paced store environment.
