Job summary

Military Deli & Bakery Services in New Orleans NAS – Belle Chasse, LA is seeking a part-time Deli Bakery Associate to serve our nation’s Military personnel and their families at one of our 103 US Military Commissary locations. This role offers 15-20 hours per week with shifts from 9am to 2pm.

You will slice deli meats and cheeses, prepare trays, stock displays, and maintain sanitation in a fast-paced environment. Weekend shifts may be required; prior grocery/food service experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age.
• Willing to cross-train in bakery and deli tasks as needed.
• Effective and friendly communication skills.
• Knowledge of basic math and the ability to follow written guidelines.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with or without accommodation.
• Ability to stand and walk short distances for an entire shift.
• Tolerates working in freezers for up to 20 minutes at a time.
• Team player.
• Grocery, food service or retail experience a plus.
• Some weekend shifts are required.

Responsibilities

• Maintains an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer service and teamwork.
• Slice deli meats and cheeses to customer requests.
• Prepare custom party trays and make sandwiches accordingly.
• Stock and organize displays and assist with shipments.
• Ensure proper sanitation and food handling in the department.
• Work in a fast-paced environment and handle stressful situations.
• Other duties may include cake decorating, baking, or rotisserie chicken prep.
