Job summary

Military Deli & Bakery Services is seeking an Assistant Manager/Shift Lead at one of their 103 US Military Commissary locations. You will support the Deli/Bakery Manager in leading 5–10 employees, ensure superb customer service, and uphold food safety standards.

The role requires management experience, ability to stand, walk, lift up to 50 pounds, and flexible availability including weekends and closing shifts. Certification in Food Safety or ability to obtain within 30 days is required.

Qualifications

• 2+ years grocery or 2+ years food service experience.
• Previous shift lead/management experience mandatory.
• Ability to stand and walk for an entire shift; lift up to 50 pounds.
• Open availability, including weekends and closing shifts.
• Food Safety Management Certification or ability to obtain one within 30 days from hire date.

Responsibilities

• Assist Deli/Bakery Manager in leading 5–10 employees.
• Maintain high levels of customer service while meeting commissary requirements.
• Oversee food safety and sanitation policies and procedures.
• Manage inventories by tracking weekly reports and ordering supplies.
• Assist in scheduling and training employees and delegating work assignments.
• Prepare, maintain, and track records concerning inventories and monthly profit.
• Maintain a safe and clean environment to ensure health and safety requirements are met.
• Develop and maintain professional communication with commissary management to meet store objectives.
• Monitor customer satisfaction and help address issues with new processes or procedures.
• Perform duties of staff as required in this hands-on position.
