Job summary

Inland Deicing Services (IDS) is seeking a part-time seasonal Deicer to support aircraft de/anti-icing operations at an American airport. You will inspect aircraft, apply glycol-based fluids, and ensure all procedures meet airline, IDS, and regulatory requirements.

The role is outdoors with varying weather conditions, involves standing, lifting, and safety-sensitive tasks. Training is provided, with opportunities for advancement and competitive wages.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Intermediate computer skills.
  • Ability to read, write, understand, and follow instructions in English.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and provide verbal direction in English.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact professionally with employees and client representatives.
  • Ability to speak and hear effectively in a safety-sensitive work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform aircraft de/anti-icing operations in accordance with airline, IDS, and safety procedures.
  • Inspect aircraft before and after deicing to identify and confirm removal of frozen contamination.
  • Maintain a safe work environment and ensure compliance with all company policies and operational procedures.
  • Participate in pre-event planning activities, including equipment inspections and operational readiness checks.
  • Service and prepare deicing equipment, including fueling vehicles and replenishing glycol supplies as required.
  • Complete required operational paperwork, records, and logbook documentation accurately and on time.
  • Report maintenance concerns promptly and ensure all equipment issues are documented and communicated to maintenance personnel.
  • Follow all equipment shutdown and pad closure procedures at the conclusion of operations.

Position Overview:

The Deicer plays a critical role in maintaining safe aircraft operations during winter weather conditions. This position is responsible for inspecting aircraft for frozen contamination, performing de/anti-icing procedures using glycol-based fluids, and ensuring all deicing activities are completed safely and in accordance with airline, IDS, and regulatory requirements.

Additional Info:
  • This is a part-time seasonal position.
  • No travel is anticipated for this role.
  • This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
  • Work is performed outdoors and may involve prolonged standing in varying weather conditions, exposure to dust, dirt, fuel, fumes, noise, heavy equipment, and moving vehicles.
  • Must be able to squat, stoop, kneel, bend, stretch, crawl, climb ladders, and work at heights exceeding 15 feet.
  • Must be able to use hands and arms to handle equipment, tools, and controls.
  • Requires close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • May be exposed to loud noises, hazardous materials, and potentially dangerous machinery or equipment.
  • Must successfully obtain and maintain all security clearances required by Transport Canada, TSA, and/or local airport authorities.
  • Must pass all required pre-employment background screenings.
