Job summary
The South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy seeks an experienced instructor for the Defensive Tactics/Physical Training (DT/PT) Unit. You will deliver professional classroom and hands-on training in BLE, detention, advanced, and staff development, focusing on Use of Force, control techniques, and OC defense while upholding safety and policy standards.
Responsibilities include curriculum development, assessment, scheduling support, and serving as an expert witness on Use of Force cases when
Qualifications
- Experience delivering classroom and hands-on instruction in law enforcement training.
- Ability to develop and update training aids, materials, and manuals.
- Knowledge of Use of Force and defensive tactics procedures.
- Ability to enforce discipline and ensure safety compliance during training.
Responsibilities
- Instruct BLE, Detention, Advanced, and staff in-service training.
- Deliver Use of Force, handcuffing/searching, baton, OC spray, and ground defense training.
- Develop and update curriculum; assist with scheduling and validation processes.
- Enforce safety procedures and serve as expert on Use of Force cases when requested.
- Perform law enforcement duties during critical incidents and ride-alongs as needed.
