Job summary

South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy seeks an instructor to deliver professional classroom and hands-on training in BLE, Detention, and Advanced programs. You will prepare training materials, coordinate curriculum, and ensure safety compliance while supporting other instructors.

The role requires law enforcement credentials, teaching certifications, and the ability to work under general supervision in a dynamic academy environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or higher with required law enforcement experience.
• Two years of road experience required.
• S.C. Class 1 LEO certification or equivalent with ability to become SC LEO within one year.
• Defensive Tactics, Instructor, and related certifications required within six months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Conduct professional classroom and hands-on instruction in BLE, Detention, Advanced, and in-service training.
• Prepare and update training aids, materials, and manuals.
• Coordinate programs and participate in curriculum validation and testing processes.
• Enforce safety procedures and student discipline in accordance with SCCJA rules.
• Review Use of Force cases and provide expert opinions when requested.
• Assist with scheduling, development, and implementation of curriculum.
