Job summary

Harris County Attorney’s Office in Houston seeks an attorney to join the Defense Litigation Division, defending Harris County, officials, and 18,000 employees in state and federal actions. You will handle cases from inception through discovery, motions, trial, and appeal, with potential telework a few days per week.

The role offers compensatory time, and flexibility to work remotely part of the week. Requires 3+ years of litigation, and Bar admission in good standing in Texas.

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor from ABA-accredited college of law.
  • Active Texas State Bar in good standing; eligible for admission to Federal court.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of litigation experience.
  • Excellent research, writing, and courtroom skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and collaboration abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Handle first and second chair litigation assignments.
  • Represent parties from intake through final judgment, including trials and appeals.
  • Advise clients and manage discovery, depositions, and dispositive motions.
  • Develop exhibits and witnesses for use in dispositive motions.
  • Maintain relationships with clients, courts, and staff; mentor others.
