Cornerstone Defense in Arlington, VA is seeking a Defensive Cyber Analyst to support cyber operations policy leadership with technical, policy, and analytical expertise. You will contribute to defensive cyber initiatives, critical infrastructure resilience, and national incident response efforts across DoD mission spaces.

The role may be filled at Journeyman or Senior level depending on experience. Applicants must hold an active TS/SCI clearance and have a strong background in cyber defense

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field required.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in defensive cyberspace operations or related fields.
• Experience briefing complex cyber concepts to senior leaders (GO/FO/SES level).
• Familiarity with defensive cyber policy development and strategy implementation.

Responsibilities

• Conduct deliberate analysis supporting DoD cyber workforce and readiness policy development.
• Support development and update of DoW policy for defensive cyber operations and critical infrastructure protection.
• Assist in developing policies to deter, prevent, and respond to cybersecurity incidents.
• Coordinate with senior leaders and interagency partners to ensure synchronized defensive cyber operations.

• Position Description: The Defensive Cyber Analyst supports Cyber Operations Policy leadership by providing technical, policy, and analytical expertise that advances defensive cyberspace operations, critical infrastructure protection, defense industrial base resilience, and national-level cyber incident response initiatives. Depending on experience, candidates may be hired at either the Journeyman or Senior level. This position supports operations across the Pentagon and associated DoW mission spaces. Core Tasks :
• Conduct deliberate analysis supporting DoD cyber workforce, cyber operations forces, and readiness policy development.
• Support the development and update of DoW policy for defensive cyber operations, including defense of critical infrastructure, the defense industrial base, and critical warfighting capabilities.
• Assist in developing policies and strategies to deter, prevent, and respond to cybersecurity intrusions and incidents.
• Support implementation of lines of effort under the DoW Cyber Strategy.
• Provide technical and analytical support on defensive cyber capabilities, processes, operations, and execution.
• Support cyber resilience, incident response, threat mitigation, and layered defense initiatives.
• Contribute to whole-of-government efforts addressing malicious cyber threats in coordination with diplomatic, law enforcement, intelligence, and network defense organizations.
• Assess the alignment and feasibility of cybersecurity cooperation programs with DoW policy and strategy.
• Prepare policy documents, briefings, risk assessments, decision-support materials, and senior-level reports.
• Brief complex cyber operational, policy, and risk concepts to GO/FO/SES-level leaders.
• Coordinate with senior leaders, military commands, interagency partners, and other stakeholders to ensure synchronized defensive cyber operations and policy implementation. Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in a relevant field.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in defensive cyberspace operations, critical infrastructure protection, defense industrial base resilience, incident response, or a related field.
• Demonstrated ability to provide technical support and advice on defensive cyber capabilities, policies, processes, and operations.
• Familiarity with defensive cyber policy development, strategy formulation, and implementation.
• At least 5 years of experience briefing complex cyber operational, policy, and risk concepts to GO/FO/SES-level leaders.
• Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
• Ability to interface effectively with senior-level leadership. Preferred:
• Master's degree from an accredited university.
• Experience with cybersecurity cooperation, whole-of-government cyber initiatives, or defense industrial base policy.
• Familiarity with DoW cyber strategy, critical infrastructure protection, and national-level cyber incident response.
