Job summary

VTG seeks a Software Engineer in Reston, VA to support a defense customer. You will develop distributed systems, build infrastructure and backend frameworks, and collaborate with teams across disciplines to deliver mission-critical software.

Candidates should have a strong CS/engineering background and 3+ years in multiple languages (Java, Python, C++, Rust, Go, JavaScript). Travel up to 25% and an active U.S. Secret clearance are required.

Qualifications

• Strong engineering background in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics or Physics.
• 3+ years of experience with multiple programming languages (Java, Python, C++, Rust, Go, JavaScript, etc.).
• Experience building data-intensive software solutions and analytics.
• Ability to navigate complex systems and established code bases.
• Willingness to travel up to 25% domestically and internationally.
• Active U.S. Secret security clearance.
• Experience with Hardware in the Loop (HIL).

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain distributed systems for defense technology applications.
• Design and implement core infrastructure and platform services for scalability.
• Build and maintain backend and web development frameworks and networking solutions.
• Assist in developing capabilities for international partners and markets.
• Integrate model/software/hardware-in-the-loop components with first/third-party technologies.
• Collaborate with team members and partners in the autonomy domain.
• Create technologies that enable rapid development and deployment of autonomous systems at scale.
• Participate in technical design reviews and system architecture discussions.
• Implement and maintain monitoring, logging, and data management solutions.
