Job summary

Segal McCambridge is seeking an Associate Attorney with 3+ years of defense litigation experience to join our Boston team. The role involves handling general liability, product liability, asbestos and tobacco defense matters, with potential flexibility for candidates across New England.

You will draft pleadings, conduct depositions, manage discovery, and participate in court conferences, mediations, and trials as needed.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of defense litigation experience in general liability, toxic tort, asbestos, tobacco or product liability.
• Admission to practice in MA, CT or RI required; multi-jurisdiction preferred.
• Excellent research, writing, and oral advocacy skills.
• Ability to manage cases and develop strategy; work independently with mentorship.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage a diverse defense caseload, including general liability, product liability, asbestos and tobacco defense.
• Draft pleadings, discovery, dispositive motions and other substantive documents.
• Conduct and defend depositions of fact and expert witnesses.
• Manage discovery and develop case strategy; attend court conferences and mediations.
• Communicate with clients, insurers, and opposing counsel; participate in settlement negotiations.
• Assist with trial preparation and participate in trial as needed.
• Collaborate with Segal McCambridge team to handle cases.
