Job summary

Rolls-Royce in Indianapolis is seeking a LibertyWorks Performance Engineering Specialist to design, simulate and verify engines and power systems at a whole-system level for defense programs. You will collaborate with sub-system teams on thermodynamic cycle models, run cycle analyses, and relay findings to stakeholders.

A bachelor’s in mechanical or aerospace engineering and willingness to travel are required.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering or related field.
• A strong passion for technology and its future.
• Willingness to travel between locations as needed.
• Open-minded, curious and agile approach to work and career development.
• Experience in performance-related support of gas turbine design/development preferred.
• Thermodynamic cycle modelling experience in NPSS preferred.
• Experience analyzing gas turbine cycles and hybrid electric systems (steady-state and transient).
• Knowledge of engine thermodynamic cycle design concepts to meet objectives.

Responsibilities

• Collaborating with sub-system teams to develop thermodynamic cycle models of whole engines/power systems.
• Performing thermodynamic cycle analysis using computer simulation to satisfy system requirements.
• Communicating predictions and analysis of product attributes at the whole system/platform level.
• Support system-level verification and validation testing.
• Publishing technical reports and presenting engineering analysis to stakeholders.
