Samsung Austin Semiconductor seeks a highly technical Defect Engineer for its Taylor, Texas fab. You will quantify yield-impacting defects, forecast yield loss with predictive models, and guide the roadmap to hit ambitious factory yield targets.

You’ll be the SME for your module, bridging inline defect data to final wafer yield through advanced analytics. The role emphasizes deep data analysis, defect characterization (SEM/TEM/EDX), and collaboration with process and equipment engineers to drive

Qualifikationen

• Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field required.
• Broad semiconductor knowledge including materials, equipment, and processes.
• Expert proficiency in JMP, Spotfire, or Python for data modeling and mining.
• Strong DOE and ANOVA understanding to validate yield actions.
• Familiar with Metrology tool models and defect inspection strategies.

Aufgaben

• Baseline Yield Optimization: quantify impact of defect types on final yield and reduce baseline defect density.
• Yield Prediction Modeling: improve models correlating inline defects to yield loss and provide early warning signals.
• Defect Characterization: perform in-depth defect analysis using SEM, TEM, or EDX to link signatures to failures.
• Module Subject Matter Expertise: act as SME for assigned module, guiding engineers on tools and processes to drive yield improvement.
• Strategic Roadmap Development: define and drive yield-improvement strategy with quarterly/annual targets.
• Data-Driven Analysis: use large datasets for spatial (wafer maps) and temporal analysis to identify yield variation causes.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: work with Process Integration and Failure Analysis to focus on high-ROI improvements.
