Job summary

Samsung Austin Semiconductor in Taylor, Texas is seeking a detail-oriented Defect Control Technician to protect wafer quality. You will serve as the Technical Detective, analyzing SPC alarms, defect images, and process data to identify root causes and prevent defective wafers from moving forward.

You will act quickly to contain issues, justify tool shutdowns, and document the investigation for audit trails while collaborating with operations to maintain manufacturing momentum and quality.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2+ years in a semiconductor fab or high-volume precision manufacturing.
• Technical proficiency with defects and basic knowledge of semiconductor fabrication processes.
• High School Diploma or technical school certification preferred.
• Able to monitor defects and perform real-time triage of excursions.

Responsibilities

• Monitor Defect SPC alarms in real-time and triage defect excursions.
• Characterize defect morphology using catalogs and image databases.
• Shut down defective tools to prevent processing of more wafers.
• Generate technical justifications using image analysis and trend data.
• Perform basic commonality analysis and recovery validation.
• Document actions clearly for audit trails and handoffs.
• Follow written procedures and maintain data integrity.
