Job summary

Nokia is offering a hybrid internship in Ann Arbor, MI for students currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field. Four positions are available for a 3-month period from May 2027 to August 2027.

Roles cover frontend and backend work, including coding with LLM tools, code reviews, and architecture discussions. The team emphasizes collaboration, learning, and real-world software development in a connected, AI-forward environment.

Qualifications

• Currently a candidate for a bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field in the US.
• Proficiency in Linux development environment and basic networking concepts.
• Experience or coursework with frontend (JavaScript, React) or backend (Python/Rust/C) development.
• Experience with coding using LLM tools and architectures.
• Familiarity with CSS-in-JS (Emotion) is a plus.
• Strong collaboration and initiative in fast-paced teams.

Responsibilities

• Participate in code reviews.

How You Will Contribute And What You Will Learn

• Write clean, scalable, maintainable, and testable code using the latest LLM (claude code, cursor, codex, etc)
• Participate in code reviews
• Contribute to architecture / design discussions
• Contribute to positive organizational growth via an enthusiastic spirit
• Triage, debug, and fix defects

Key Skills And Experience

• Solid awareness of development in a Linux environment
• Solid handle of coding using LLM (claude code, cursor, codex, etc)
• Familiarity with basic networking concepts
• For frontend-focused applicants:
  • Exposure to scripting languages such as JavaScript
  • Experience or coursework using React is a plus
• For backend/test-focused applicants:
  • Experience working with both compiled and scripting languages
  • Python/Rust/C experience preferred

It would also be nice if you had:

• Experience with a CSS-in-JS solution such as Emotion
• A team-oriented mindset and eagerness to contribute to a growing team
• Ability to iterate quickly, learn fast, and take initiative
