Job summary

Pasadena Independent School District is seeking a SPED Aide ABLE II to work under the supervision of the special education teacher and assist in the student’s daily training program. The aide may help with feeding, lifting, and individualized care, and assist with daily instructional and non-instructional activities, including student management.

Responsibilities include assisting in classroom management, preparing instructional materials, maintaining records, and communicating students’ needs

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid Texas Educational Aide Certificate required.
• PAC Test (No Child Left Behind) / 48 College Hours required.
• Bilingual Test required if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Assist teacher in routine classroom management duties.
• Assist in preparing instructional materials.
• Assist in maintaining classroom environment and supplies.
• Assist students in homework preparation, test taking.
• Modify teacher's assignments, tests, and other instructional entities.
• Maintain records, files and other pertinent documents on each student.
• Communicate students' needs to faculty and staff.
• Assist in maintaining a safe environment for students, faculty, staff.
• Assist in implementing student's behavior management plan.
• Assist in the loading and unloading of the school buses.
• Participate in activities involved with physical education classes.
• Assist with individual student's personal hygiene needs.
• Feed or assist students in feeding themselves.
• Lift, move, and position students in a variety of settings.
• Be aware of student's various medical concerns.
• Escort students to different locations in the building.
