Job summary

Disability North seeks a Female Personal Assistant to support a registered blind client in Newcastle. The role includes acting as eyes in public, driving a 9-seat vehicle, and guiding in public spaces, including shopping, baby groups, and school runs.

Daily tasks cover accompanying to swimming lessons, helping with outings, and light domestic duties such as cooking and cleaning. Job share options are available; UK driving licence is essential and an enhanced DBS check is required.

Qualifications

• Clean UK driving licence essential
• DBS check required and satisfactory references
• This post is exempt under the Equality Act 2010, Schedule 9, Paragraphs 1–4 (so female applicants only)

Responsibilities

• Being my eyes when out and about
• Driving my large nine seat vehicle
• Guiding me when out and about (helping push the double pushchair)
• Accompanying me to baby groups and classes
• Attending my youngest children’s swimming lessons and guiding me in the pool
• Helping with shopping and keeping me informed about my children's activities
• Joining me on the school run
• Assisting with cooking, cleaning and organising the home
