Job summary

HTU is seeking dedicated paraprofessional staff in Cedar Rapids, IA to support students under professional supervision. Responsibilities include supervising students, assisting with health-related tasks, and helping with mealtime and personal care while maintaining safety and confidentiality.

Candidates should have two years of post-secondary education or a Paraeducator certificate, strong communication, and the ability to work independently or with teachers.

Qualifications

• Two years post-secondary education, Paraeducator certificate, or qualifying score on NCRC assessment test.
• Willingness to assume responsibility.
• Ability to work well with others and independently.
• Flexibility in working with classroom teachers.
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to effectively supervise students while maintaining positive relationships.
• Professional representation of the school, including confidentiality and appropriate dress.
• Regular attendance.

Responsibilities

• Work with students individually or in group settings under the direction of professional staff.
• Assist with supervision of students in classrooms, cafeteria, halls, and other areas.
• Implement behavior management strategies.
• Provide one-to-one support to students to complete assigned tasks.
• Ensure student safety at all times.
• Assist students with health needs under nurse guidance.
• Help prepare educational materials.
• Assist students during mealtime and with personal hygiene.
• Help students get to and from bus or car.
• May include riding the bus with students.
• Perform other duties as assigned based on building and district needs.
