Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Completion of State Approved Medication Aide Training and Competency Evaluation Program required.
• 1 year of health care experience preferred.
• Knowledge of Universal Precautions and Bloodborne Pathogen rules.

Responsibilities

• Administer prescribed medications as defined by policy and procedure.
• Observe and report medication reactions to the charge nurse.
• Record vital signs prior to medication administration.
• Document administered medications in the resident's medication administration record.
• Administer oxygen in emergencies and document actions and notification.
• Apply ophthalmic, OTIC, nasal, and vaginal medications as ordered.
• Assist in daily care tasks (bathing, feeding, dressing, etc.).
• Maintain cleanliness of nursing station, medication room, and supply room.
