Job summary

Vallarta Supermarkets is seeking a Cake Decorator to join our bakery team. You will prepare, decorate, and finish cakes and pastries, maintain attractive displays, and assist with custom orders while following safety and sanitation standards.

Ideal candidates have cake decorating experience or a strong willingness to learn, with friendly, customer-focused service and basic computer skills. This is a full-time, in-store position requiring flexibility for afternoons, evenings, weekends, and

Responsibilities

• Greet customers and assist with bakery and cake orders, in-store and by phone.
• Prepare, decorate, and finish cakes and pastries to customer requests and company standards.
• Merchandise, rotate, and stock products to keep displays full and appealing.
• Follow health department regulations, Bakery Safety Program, and company safety policies.
• Monitor oven/proofer temperatures, prepare dough and batters, and ensure accurate packaging, weighing, and labeling.
• Clean work areas, sweep and mop floors, wash utensils and equipment, and maintain a professional, sanitary environment.
• Communicate supply needs, order from approved vendors, and help control waste and shrink.
• Perform additional tasks to support bakery operations and customer satisfaction.

About the Role

The Cake Decorator prepares and decorates cakes, pastries, and baked goods while ensuring quality, freshness, and customer satisfaction. This rolemaintainsclean, attractive bakery displays,assistswith custom cake orders, and follows Vallarta’shigh standardsfor safety, sanitation, and service.

What You’ll Do

• Customer Service:Greet customers and assist with bakeryand cake orders, both in-store and by phone.
• Product Quality: Prepare, decorate, and finish cakes and pastries to customer requests and company standards.
• Merchandising: Merchandise, rotate, and stock products to keep displays full and appealing.
• Compliance & Safety: Follow health department regulations, Bakery Safety Program, and company safety policies.
• Operations:Monitoroven/proofer temperatures, prepare dough and batters, and ensureaccuratepackaging, weighing, and labeling.
• Sanitation: Clean work areas, sweep and mop floors, wash utensils and equipment, andmaintaina professional, sanitary environment.
• Inventory: Communicate supply needs, order from approved vendors, and help control waste and shrink.
• Other Duties: Performadditionaltasksassigned to support bakery operations and customer satisfaction.

Physical Requirements

Stand and walk forlong periods(6–8 hours/day).

Frequently bend neck/waist, squat, twist, and reach above/below shoulders.

Frequent grasping, pushing, pulling, and fine hand manipulation.

Lift and carry up to 25 lbs.frequentlyand up to 50 lbs. occasionally (e.g., flour, sugar, boxes).

Work near bakery equipment and in environments with varying temperatures and humidity.

May berequiredto perform tasks at elevated levels (placing or retrieving items).

What We’re Looking For

• Friendly, customer-focused attitude with a passion for cake decorating.
• Knowledge of cake mixes, fillings, frostings, and decorating tools (pastry bags, tubes, colors, textures).
• Experience decorating cakes orstrongwillingness to learn.
• Ability tomaintainquality and accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
• Basic computer and math skills (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Must be able to speak,read, write, and understandEnglish.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.
• Fast-paced retail setting with direct customer interaction.
• Exposure toperishable products, bakery equipment, and changing temperatures.
• Must work flexible schedule: afternoons, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Team-oriented, collaborative workplace.
