Job summary

Vallarta Supermarkets is seeking a dedicated Baker to safely and efficiently prepare, bake, and finish cakes, breads, pastries, and specialty baked goods, including traditional recipes. You will ensure quality, appearance, and freshness while delivering excellent customer service in a fast-paced environment.

You will greet customers, assist with orders, monitor ovens, stock displays, and follow safety protocols.

Qualifications

• Customer-focused attitude and ability to lead a team.
• Experience with bakery operations and customer interaction.
• Basic computer and math skills (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Willingness to work afternoons, evenings, weekends and holidays.
• Legally authorized to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers and assist with bakery and cake orders in-store or by phone.
• Prepare doughs, batters, and mixtures; monitor oven temperatures for consistency.
• Stock and rotate baked goods; maintain attractive displays and promote sales.
• Follow bakery safety program; maintain sanitation and health code compliance.
• Assist coworkers; report unsafe acts and keep a clean, organized department.
• Pack, weigh, price merchandise; minimize waste and transport items as needed.
• Perform additional tasks as assigned.

About the Role

The Bakeris responsible forsafely and efficiently preparing, baking, and finishing cakes, breads, pastries, and specialty baked goods, including traditional Mexican and Central American recipes. Bakers ensure consistency in quality, appearance, and freshness, while providing exceptional customer service and supporting Vallarta Supermarkets’high standardsfor safety and cleanliness.

What You’ll Do

Customer Service: Greet customers with a smile andassistwith bakery and cake orders in-store or by phone.

Baking & Preparation: Prepare doughs, batters, and mixtures for breads, cakes, and pastries; monitor oven and proofer temperatures to ensure consistent quality.

Merchandising: Stock and rotate baked goods,maintainattractive displays, and promote sales through suggestive selling.

Food Safety: Follow Vallarta’s Bakery Safety Program, practice proper sanitation, andcomply withhealth code regulations.

Teamwork:Assistcoworkers, report unsafe acts or equipment, and support a clean, organized, and friendly department environment.

Operations: Accurately pack, weigh, and price merchandise; minimize waste; transport products to and from coolers and storage areas.

Other Duties: Support department needs by cleaning equipment,maintainingcountertops, and performingadditionaltasks as assigned.

Physical Requirements

Stand and walk forlong periods(6–8 hours/day).

Frequently bend neck/waist, squat, twist, and reach above/below shoulders.

Frequent grasping, pushing, pulling, and fine hand manipulation.

Lift and carry up to 25 lbs.frequentlyand up to 50 lbs. occasionally (e.g., flour, sugar, boxes).

Work near bakery equipment and in environments with varying temperatures and humidity.

May berequiredto perform tasks at elevated levels (placing or retrieving items).

What We’re Looking For

Friendly, customer-focused attitude with leadership skills.

Knowledge of baking methods and ingredients (Mexican, Central American, and American pastries, etc.).

Experience using bakery equipment, ovens, and tools.

Ability to manage in a fast-paced environment and mentor others.

Basic computer and math skills (Excel, Word, Outlook).

Basic understandingofEnglishlanguage.

Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.

Fast-paced retail setting with direct customer interaction.

Exposure toperishable products, bakery equipment, and changing temperatures.

Must work flexible schedule: afternoons, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
