Job summary

Goldfish Swim School is seeking a Deck Supervisor to manage on-deck staff, maintain a safe pool environment, and interact with students and families. You will oversee the curriculum delivery and support instructors throughout shifts.

Ideal candidates have 2+ years of swim instruction experience, Lifeguard/CPR/First Aid certifications, and can pass background checks. Flexible shifts and advancement opportunities are available in a busy, hands-on setting.

Qualifications

• Must have ability to work with children.
• Excellent interpersonal communication and organizational skills are required.
• Must pass background examinations (included with training).
• Two+ years as swim instructor or similar youth program experience preferred.
• Lifeguard, CPR/AED and First Aid certifications required.

Responsibilities

• Provides leadership, discipline and feedback to instructors and deck staff to ensure quality delivery of the Goldfish Swim School curriculum.
• Conducts daily pre-shift meetings and prepares the deck for the shift.
• Conducts periodic evaluations of instructors and deck staff.
• Interacts with parents/guardians to discuss student progress.
• Acts as a school ambassador to ensure customer satisfaction.
• Completes daily Deck Supervisor logs and monitors student attendance.
• Coordinates tasks to maintain pool facility cleanliness.
• Arranges replacements for absent employees.
• Maintains appropriate chemical levels for the pool environment.
• Acts as substitute swim instructor when necessary.
• Suggests improvements and implements training actions.
• Participates in training/in-services as required.

Summary

Manages assigned shift including supervision of on-deck employees, maintenance of pool environment and interaction with students and parents/guardians. Exhibits expert-level knowledge of all levels of the GSS curriculum. Demonstrates thorough knowledge of GSS management policies and practices.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Provides leadership, discipline and constructive feedback to instructors and deck teachers to ensure quality delivery of the Goldfish Swim School curriculum.


2. Conducts daily pre-shift meetings and prepares the deck for the shift.


3. Conducts periodic evaluations of instructors and deck teachers.


4. Interacts with parents/guardians to discuss student progress.


5. Acts as a GSS "ambassador" to ensure customer satisfaction.


6. Completes daily Deck Supervisor logs on assigned shift and monitors the students’ attendance.


7. Coordinates tasks required to ensure the cleanliness of the pool facility.


8. Arranges for replacements for absent employees.


9. Maintains the appropriate levels of chemicals for the pool environment.


10. Acts as substitute swim instructor when necessary.


11. Suggests areas for improvement and implements corrective action through in-services or other training.


12. Participates in training/in-services as required.


13. Fulfills other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Employer.

Education/Experience

High school diploma or GED is preferred. Two or more years as a swim instructor required. Experience as a youth sports instructor/coach, camp counselor and/or teacher preferred. College degree preferred.

Certificates and Licenses

Lifeguard, CPR/AED and First Aid certifications required.

Work Environment

While performing this job, the employee is regularly exposed to heat and humidity. Noise level is usually moderate.
