Job summary

Goldfish Swim School in Town of Clifton Park, NY, seeks a Deck Supervisor to manage shifts, supervise on-deck staff, and uphold pool standards.

You will interact with students and parents, ensure safety, and support curriculum delivery. Lifeguard and CPR/First Aid certifications are required; two+ years of swim-instructor experience preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Two+ years as a swim instructor required.
• Experience as a youth sports instructor/coach preferred.
• College degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership, discipline, and feedback to instructors and deck teachers to ensure quality delivery of the GSS curriculum.
• Conduct daily pre-shift meetings and prepare the deck for the shift.
• Conduct periodic evaluations of instructors and deck teachers.
• Interact with parents/guardians to discuss student progress and act as a GSS ambassador for customer satisfaction.
• Complete daily Deck Supervisor logs and monitor children's attendance.
• Coordinate tasks to maintain pool facility cleanliness.
• Arrange replacements for absent employees.
• Maintain appropriate chemical levels for the pool environment.
• Act as substitute swim instructor when necessary.
• Suggest improvements and implement training to drive quality.
• Participate in training/in-services as required.

Job Title: Deck Supervisor

Reports to: General Manager

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Summary

Manages assigned shift including supervision of on-deck employees, maintenance of pool environment and interaction with students and parents. Performs as expert on all levels of the GSS curriculum. Demonstrates thorough knowledge of GSS management policies and practices.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. 1. Provides leadership, discipline, and constructive feedback to instructors and deck teachers to ensure quality delivery of the Goldfish Swim School curriculum.
2. 2. Conduct daily pre-shifts meetings and prepares the deck for the shift.
3. 3. Conducts periodic evaluations of instructors, and deck teachers.
4. 4. Interacts with parents/guardians to discuss student progress. Acts as a GSS "ambassador" to ensure customer satisfaction.
5. 5. Completes daily Deck Supervisor logs on assigned shift and monitors the children's attendance.
6. 6. Coordinates tasks required to ensure the cleanliness of the pool facility.
7. 7. Arranges for replacements for absent employees.
8. 8. Maintains the appropriate levels of chemicals for the pool environment.
9. 9. Act as substitute swim instructor when necessary.
10. 10. As a member of the deck supervisor team, suggests areas for improvement and implements corrective action through in-service's or other training.
11. 11. Participates in training/in-services as required.

Education/Experience

High school diploma or GED. Two or more years as a swim instructor required. Experience as a youth sports instructor/coach, camp counselor, and/or teacher preferred. College degree preferred.

Work Environment

While performing this job, the employee is regularly exposed to heat and humidity. Noise level is usually moderate.
