Job summary

Starbucks Coffee Company in Seattle seeks a Decision Scientist to guide business decisions by embedding analytics into labor, deployment, throughput and service time. You will build and maintain data models, dashboards, and analytical storytelling to influence operations and store experiences.

You will collaborate with finance, technology, and store leadership, emphasize data quality, apply regression and clustering, and communicate insights clearly.

Qualifications

• BA/BS with preferred concentration in Stats, Math, CS, Engineering, Econ, Psychology or similar.
• Experience with coding languages to support data preparation (SQL), pipelines (Python), and data analysis (Python, R).
• Experience with data visualization tools and techniques (Tableau, Power BI, Shiny, D3).
• Excellent attention to detail and strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Data Engineering & Quality: Extract and transform large-scale data into analytically ready structures.
• Analytics & Modeling: Apply statistical and predictive techniques using SQL, Python, or R.
• Visualization & Storytelling: Build dashboards and visualizations in Tableau or Power BI to influence decisions.
• Business Integration: Collect and interpret requirements; connect analysis to business applications.
• Collaboration & Evangelism: Partner across teams and foster a data-driven culture.
• Planning & Prioritization: Align work with priorities and manage deadlines and risks.
