Job summary

Illinois College of Optometry (ICO) invites applications for the role of Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean. Reporting to the President, the Dean provides visionary leadership for ICO's academic programs and collaborates with faculty, students, staff, alumni, and the Board to advance ICO’s mission.

The next Dean will guide ICO through a period of opportunity and transformation, strengthening accreditation standards, expanding clinical education via IEI, and fostering faculty

Qualifications

• OD degree preferred; PhD or equivalent terminal degree with significant experience and demonstrated success in optometric education.
• Leadership experience in higher education, healthcare, or an academic health professions environment.
• Experience in strategic planning, organizational leadership, and resource management.
• Strong understanding of accreditation and academic quality assurance.
• Excellent communication, relationship-building, and leadership skills.
• Distinguished record of academic and professional achievement.

Responsibilities

• Lead and advance ICO's academic programs in alignment with mission and strategic priorities.
• Collaborate with faculty, students, staff, alumni, Board of Trustees, and clinical leaders to advance ICO’s mission.
