Job summary

Lawrence University seeks a Dean of Students to elevate the undergraduate student experience and lead key Student Life initiatives. Reporting to the Vice President for Student Life, the DOS will guide units, promote Belonging, Integrity, Respect, and Sustainability, and influence campus culture.

The role emphasizes crisis management, student policy interpretation, and collaboration with Academic affairs to foster an inclusive community and equitable student experiences.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in higher education or related field.
• Record of success as a supervisor with performance evaluations and development.
• Experience supporting diverse student populations and inclusive environments.
• Strong collaboration with campus units and external partners.
• Ability to lead crisis management and strategic planning.

Responsibilities

• Develop partnerships with campus and community leaders to advance student experience.
• Serve on CARE team, Crisis Management Team, Behavioral Intervention Team, and Bias Response committee.
• Advise the Lawrence University Community Council (student government).
• Oversee Student Life Administrators-On-Call system.
• Act as chief conduct officer overseeing student grievances and Judicial Board training.
• Lead policy analysis and interpretation in the Student Handbook.
• Collaborate with Academic affairs on student engagement and learning strategies.
• Oversee Senior Week, Senior Banquet, and First Year events.
