Description

The Dean of Students is responsible for setting the vision for achieving and sustaining high levels of student achievement and strategically implementing the school’s mission through effective leadership of all stakeholders, including faculty, staff, students, parents, and the community.

Position Details

For the 2025-2026 School Year, the Dean of Students (Middle School) assists the Principal in maintaining discipline and attendance, manages all aspects of student life, and collaborates with staff to foster an effective learning environment. Additional duties include supervising staff, managing discipline, and representing the school at community events.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Resolve discipline problems and maintain disciplinary records.
• Develop programs to promote proper attitudes and standards among students.
• Manage attendance procedures and follow up on absenteeism.
• Work to reduce school dropouts.
• Represent the school at community functions.
• Supervise student parking, bus loading, and detention assignments.
• Assist with campus supervision and supervise extracurricular events.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Experience as a middle school administrator preferred.
• Commitment to school improvement.
• Experience with social skills lessons, IEP development, and progress monitoring.
• Other qualifications as appropriate.

Performance Evaluation

Annual evaluation in accordance with Illinois School Code and D300 procedures.

Salary and Benefits

• 220-day position with 12 sick days, 2 personal days, and 4 flex days.
• Starting salary: $80,431 - $87,061.
• Benefits include health insurance options, life insurance, doctoral tuition reimbursement, and a monthly mileage stipend of $75.

Qualifications

Valid Illinois Professional Educator License with General Administrator or Principal Endorsement, completed ELIS modules, and relevant teaching and leadership experience.
