Responsibilities

  • Serve as Chief Student Affairs Officer with strategic leadership for student services and success initiatives.
  • Provide admin leadership for Admissions, Records, Financial Aid, Veterans Affairs, Recruitment, Orientation, Student Success, Counseling, Student Activities, Athletics, Campus Police, TRIO, Dual Enrollment, and Early College.
  • Develop, implement and evaluate goals, policies, and initiatives to promote access, engagement, retention and completion.
  • Lead and supervise Student Affairs personnel with professional development and performance evaluations.
  • Develop and manage divisional budgets and allocate resources effectively.
  • Serve as Title IX Coordinator and ensure compliance with Title IX and laws; coordinate required training and investigations.
  • Collaborate with Academic Affairs and other divisions to support student success and institutional goals.
  • Coordinate behavioral intervention, student conduct, crisis response, and campus safety with Campus Police.

Position Summary

The Dean of Student Affairs, will serve at the Chief Student Affairs Officer and provides strategic leadership for student affairs, dual enrollment, early college, TRIO programs, campus security, and athletics, units of the College. Responsibilities include enrollment management, academic advising, financial aid, student life (all aspects), athletics, ADA resources, student conduct, and campus security. Responsibilities also include building collaborative relationships across campus and the greater community that contribute to increased efficiencies and student success. The Dean of Student Affairs is dedicated to promoting student development and retention through coordinated student support services and outreach initiatives in the community, K-12, and higher education that align with the College’s mission.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Serve as the College's Chief Student Affairs Officer, providing strategic leadership for all student services and student success initiatives.
  • Provide administrative leadership and oversight for Student Affairs departments, including Admissions, Records, Financial Aid, Veterans Affairs, Recruitment, Orientation, Student Success, Counseling, Student Activities, Athletics, Campus Police, TRIO Programs, Dual Enrollment, and Early College.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate strategic goals, policies, procedures, and initiatives that promote student access, engagement, retention, persistence, and completion.
  • Lead and supervise Student Affairs personnel by fostering professional development, promoting accountability, and conducting performance evaluations.
  • Develop, recommend, and manage divisional budgets while ensuring the effective allocation of financial and operational resources.
  • Serve as the College's Title IX Coordinator, ensuring compliance with Title IX and applicable federal and state laws, coordinating required training, and overseeing investigations of complaints.
  • Collaborate with Academic Affairs, Institutional Effectiveness, Workforce Development, and other College divisions to support student success, enrollment growth, and institutional goals.
  • Coordinate behavioral intervention, student conduct, crisis response, and campus safety initiatives in collaboration with Campus Police and other appropriate departments.
  • Ensure the Student Handbook, Student Code of Conduct, and related student policies remain current and are effectively communicated and enforced.
  • Provide executive oversight of the College's intercollegiate athletics program, ensuring compliance with NJCAA, ACCS, and other applicable athletic regulations
  • Ensure compliance with SACSCOC, U.S. Department of Education, ACCS, and all applicable federal, state, and local regulations within areas of responsibility.
  • Prepare, review, and ensure the timely and accurate submission of required institutional, state, and federal reports.
  • Advise the President and Executive Vice President on significant student affairs matters, operational issues, and recommendations affecting student services and campus operations
  • Evaluate and recommend improvements to facilities, services, and operational processes that enhance the student experience and support regulatory compliance.
  • Serve as a member of the President's Extended Cabinet, institutional committees, and professional organizations to advance the mission and strategic priorities of the College.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Vice President
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Minimum of four (4) years of full-time director level experience or higher in student services in one or more of the following areas: recruiting, advising, athletics, career services, disability services, admissions, financial aid, recruiting, and/or retention, and/or student activities.
  • Experience with BANNER.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Doctorate in higher education or related field from an accredited institution.
  • Experience at the vice president, dean or associate dean level.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse student, faculty, staff, alumni, and community population.
  • Ability to coordinate and perform multiple tasks.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work well with others.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from students and the general public.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
  • Prolonged sitting and standing at times.
  • Some overnight travel required.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel independently.
  • Ability to work with large groups.
  • Ability to traverse both campuses.
  • Ability to work flexible hours.
  • Ability to communicate by using PC, telephone, and written media
