Job summary

California State University, Fullerton invites applications for the Dean, College of Education. The Dean leads instructional programs, budget, and infrastructure, while advancing student success and inclusive excellence.

The role requires a Ph.D. or Ed.D. and 3+ years of senior administrative experience in higher education, plus proven fundraising capabilities and external partnerships.

Qualifications

• A Ph.D. or Ed.D. from an accredited university and a record of teaching, scholarship and administrative service sufficient to qualify for appointment to a tenured full professor position in the College.
• A minimum of three years of progressively responsible administrative experience in a leadership position (chair or higher) in higher education.
• Three or more years of academic administrative experience involving strategic and operational planning, budgeting, human resource management, program assessment, student advisement, faculty development, and curriculum development.
• Experience working collaboratively within a diverse campus community in a shared governance environment.
• A record of supporting faculty development in teaching, research, scholarship, and service.
• A record of implementing initiatives to facilitate student success, ensure that learning outcomes are met, and narrow achievement gaps.
• The ability to generate external support and fundraising to advance the mission of the College, as well as the ability to contribute to the University's strategic goals.
• A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment.

Responsibilities

• Administer instructional programs; develop and implement the annual College budget.
• Plan and maintain the College's physical infrastructure.
• Lead the College's outreach and fundraising efforts.
• Make independent recommendations on all College personnel matters; supervise chairs and their actions.
• Provide leadership in curricular improvement, innovation, and assessment of student learning.
• Represent the College in the larger University and community; serve on the Council of Deans.
• Support accreditation for appropriate programs in the College.
