Job summary

Southwestern Michigan College seeks a Dean of the School of Nursing and Health Services to provide strategic, academic, and operational leadership for its programs.

The Dean reports to the Chief Academic and Assurance Officer and collaborates with faculty, staff, students, clinical partners, and the community to ensure high-quality learning, accreditation standards, and alignment with regional health care needs.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree with a major in Nursing from an accredited institution.
• Five years of experience in professional nursing practice or educational preparation/academic teaching in nursing.
• Current unrestricted license to practice as a registered nurse in Michigan or eligibility to obtain one.
• Demonstrated leadership experience in nursing education, health care, or related setting.
• Ability to lead collaboratively and support faculty and staff’s growth.
• Ability to manage budgets, personnel, scheduling, and regulatory requirements.
• Commitment to academic quality, student success, and community college mission.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for the School of Nursing and Health Services.
• Ensure compliance with Michigan Board of Nursing requirements and accreditation standards.
• Lead curriculum review, program evaluation, and improvement.
• Recruit, develop, supervise, and evaluate faculty and staff.
• Provide oversight of academic and clinical operations, including scheduling and clinical placements.
• Develop and manage budgets and advocate for necessary resources.
• Foster partnerships with hospitals, clinicians, and external organizations.
